To borrow a phrase; if the #1 rated Yelp restaurant in your town is a nationally franchised BBQ joint, you might be a redneck.

Kidding aside, it was pretty good. I had the two meat plate, brisket and ribs with Mac and potato salad. The meat portions were small but tasty. Not a big fan of BBQ sauce, especially sweet sauce, but the maple sauce on the ribs was very good. The brisket was very good as well with nice flavor and juiciness (close to being a bit dry but not quite there).  The sides were respectable but that's about it. The tea (3/4 unsweetened, 1/4 sweet) hit the spot.  Really didn't care for the crushed ice though.

Modern, clean, and smells great. Slightly retro rustic, the place is open and well kept. We got greetings as we walked through the door, "welcome to Dickey's!"  That's cool. We felt welcomed at the end of a long day.

    Food
Compared to big cities with all sorts of choices in BBQ, it's ok. Considering it's in Gallup, NM, it's a huge winner. The mac, slaw, potato salad were all good. Smokey's in the busy part of Gallup is in trouble. This place does everything better. The only consideration is that there's no alcohol. But the bar at the casino is just down the road.

    Service
Polite, friendly, helpful, patient, it's just good.

It may be a franchise. But if they continue like this, they'll continue to be successful.

Long drive... mouth watering and stomach growling... didn't eat snacks in the car to spoil appetite for some good, smoked meat bbq...

Should have eaten the car snacks... Dicky's is a dry disappointment... small serving, fast food set up that serves under average dry meat... The sides are not any better... either canned or frozen...

Pass this place and hang on a couple more hours to Albuquerque...

The taco is definitely not worth the money. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone looking for a decent taco. It is just a tortilla, some meat and a half slice of cheese. Some of the pictures online made the taco look good. The real deal is a waste. I at least thought it would have some cole slaw on it... totally disappointing.

I also wanted a Cesar salad but they said they were out. Not surprised, as 3 other restaurants in the area said no to salads even though it's on their menu. I guess Sysco forgot to deliver lettuce to Gallup this month.

The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 is that the cashier was nice.

The food was good and the people behind the counter were friendly.

However, this one of those newer Dickey's locations that doesn't sell their fried onion tanglers (the best side on their menu and some of the best fried onions anywhere) or offer free soft-serve ice cream. Those two things are what separate Dickey's from being just another fast-casual chain. These newer prototype locations that don't feature either are a middle finger from Dickey's to longtime customers.

I will have no problem patronizing other Dickey's locations, but will never return to this one.
